Prediction: A Safeway Being Built at the Old Albertsons on 40th
**UPDATE: 9/10/19, 11:09 a.m. The results of my Scooby Doo/Miss Cleo sleuthing skills revealed that I was in fact, completely right wrong about my prediction the old Albertson's building will be turned into a Safeway. It seems that right around the time I published my blog, the Yakima Herald found out the REAL scoop and published their story. The old Albertson's location is apparently set to become a Gold's Gym.
Oops, my bad! Sorry, guys!

The Albertson's grocery store closed to the dismay of Yakima residents in February of 2019, but could it figuratively be arising out of the ashes like a phoenix?
Observant drivers and pedestrians have noticed there is a bustle of construction activity happening at the abandoned Albertson's grocery store located at 401 S 40th Ave.
Wire fencing has recently been installed to block off public access to sections of the property, no doubt to fend off nosy neighborhood "lookie-loos" (such as myself).
You can't fool me! I am not psychic and I am certainly no Daphne from Scooby Doo, but I am willing to turn off the projector and pull the sheet off the ghost to reveal that the old Albertson's building is being remodeled into a new Safeway store.
Let's look at all the clues!
A quick Yakima County property search indicates that two Idaho-based companies ABS WA-O LLC and New Albertsons Lp (the parent company of Safeway grocery stores) funded YGG Holdings LLC's purchase of the old Albertson's building last month (August 2019) for $2.3 million.
Is there a new Safeway store in our future? My Magic 8 Ball just told me that all "signs point to yes."
