Yakima’s 6 Tastiest Places to Get the Best Fries
MAN, HOW DO I LOVE FRENCH FRIES!
I could talk about my love for fries the way Bubba talked about his love of shrimp in the movie, Forrest Gump.
I love potatoes almost any way you cook 'em: French fries, garlic fries, chili fries, rosemary fries, julienne fries, country style potatoes, truffle fries, Cajun fries, hashbrowns, baked potato, loaded baked potato, poutine, jojos, curly fries, crinkle fries, waffle fries, sweet potato fries...I could go on!
Whenever I go to a baseball game, getting some garlic fries is one of my favorite traditions. My first experience at a Seattle Mariners game was texting to get an order of garlic fries. I was so stoked! I"m not the only fan; a decade or so ago, there was even a Facebook group dedicated to foodies who loved garlic fries at the Mariners game. Man, I love technology!
I like my fries a little bit on the soggy side. They must be fully cooked, of course, but I don't want to chomp on hard, extra crispy potatoes. Hard pass on that.
The most popular fries in America are Arby's Curly Fries. They are so tasty that they are sold in the frozen food aisles of grocery stores. I even bought a bag of them the other day! I didn't include any fast food joints as the best fries in Yakima, with one exception, because I really want to focus on the best fries found in our local mom-and-pop restaurants.
FUN FACT: Washington state is the second largest producer of potatoes in the country, with most of them grown in Wapato and other parts of Eastern Washington.
