Tiny Tacoma Diner Makes List for Best Breakfasts in the Nation
If you have never heard of Tibbits Fern Hill Diner in Tacoma, you are not alone. They don’t deliver but you can always order something to go or dine inside the tiny restaurant.
Before you go, you’ll need to make a reservation; you can’t get in otherwise.
Tibbits Fern Hill’s owner and chef, Shawn Tibbits, describes his diner as an “easygoing, cozy” place with “seasonal and hearty comfort food.”
You might see a bunch of eclectic tchotchkes in the front window sills or on another visit, you might see a clear spectacle inside the restaurant that gives views of diner tables covered in red and white gingham patterned tablecloths.
One peek at the menu with items like “Gumbo Egg Frittata with Honey Cornbread”, and “Herbed Spiced Fennel Chorizo Gravy” served over potatoes, scrambled eggs, pepper jack cheese, sausage, and candied bacon inside a sourdough bread bowl, will make you want to pull up a chair and chow down. They even serve gluten-free baked shrimp toast. How creative and my, does it ever sound yummy.
