The Annual 2021 Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Yakima is set for Thursday, November 11th. The parade is sponsored annually by the Veterans of Foreign Wars - Post 379.

The Veterans Day Parade starts at 10:45 am Thursday

The parade will begin at 10:45 am at the intersection of Yakima Avenue and 6th Street. The route will continue west on Yakima Avenue to 6th Avenue. It is scheduled to end at 12:30 pm. Yakima Avenue will be closed to motorized traffic from 6th Street to 7th Avenue. Organizers say about 750 participants and 50 vehicles will be in the parade.

Yakima Avenue will be closed during the parade

No parking will be allowed on Yakima Avenue between 6th Street and 6th Avenue from 8:45 am on November 11th until the parade is completed. Cars parked along that portion of Yakima Avenue during that time will be subject to being towed at the owner’s expense.

Remember Veterans Day is a federal holiday

Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States so that means federal offices will be closed on Thursday. That includes the post office banks and the stock market.City offices will be closed as well. Business offices for the Police and Fire Departments will be closed. Emergency services will remain available. In addition, the City’s Harman Center will be closed on Thursday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day and Yakima Transit will not provide bus service on November 11th. The City’s Refuse Division will provide regular garbage collection services as scheduled on Thursday. There will be no delay of garbage or yard waste collection services on Thursday, November 11th. However, the Refuse Division’s office will be closed Thursday.
