Being new to town is an adventure on its own, but I'm quickly finding some extremely friendly people and some of the tastiest foods around the city. Today I decided to go and try a hot dog place everyone's been raving about.

I don't shy away from a good hot dog but being from the west side it's hard to find anything that can beat a Seattle dog outside of T-Mobile Park. Believe it or not, I think I found something better, and it's in Yakima!

Today at lunch I ventured into downtown Yakima in search of Winey Dogs. I had heard from a few people that if I love hot dogs this is the place I need to check out, boy was that an understatement. When I first parked I could see that not only was this a small shop but one that the owners were clearly proud of. The moment I walked thru the doors I was greeted with an excited smile, I was treated almost like family while trying to figure out just what I wanted. I told the woman behind the counter that I was new and never got to try their place before.

She broke down everything, the menu was pretty much a suggestion and you could customize your dog any way you wanted. She suggested I go with the gouda cheese, smoked bacon, ranch, and pickle hot dog, it felt like she knew me from the moment I walked in. After chatting for a few and telling her about where I came from and what I was doing she started giving me tips on other things to do while around the city and to not shy away from trying more of the dogs! They have so many choices when it comes to the meat too, regular hot dog, polish, sausage, bratwurst, and even a veggie dog.

With a plethora of choices of toppings and combos, it's easy to say I could spend a year there and still not get sick of it. After finishing my hotdog I was blown away and for sure found my new favorite lunch spot! If you wanna see the menu and more for yourself click HERE!

If I had to rate this place it's an easy 4.5 out of 5! A true must-try for the taste of Yakima!

Winey Dogs is located at 3 N 6th Ave, Yakima Wa.
