The Yakima Valley Fire department has always put the community first. They're making sure you have the safest summer possible by preventing fires, getting cats out of trees, and making sure your family has the right flotation device while they're out on the water!

YFD issued an announcement asking people to drop off life jackets for those in need and the community answered the call! You can now stop by the fire department and pick up a life preserver for yourself, or for a family member so you can be cooling off in the water and not having to worry about the dangers of drowning.

It's pretty simple, to get your own life jacket or for that special someone in your life,(Kiddos) just drive on down to station 93 (511 n 40th ave) or simply make your way down to Station 92 (7707 Tieton Dr) a local firefighter will help make sure you're fitted for the right life jacket including for your kids and family.

Don't go out on the water without the protection you'll need. It's easy to assume "I'm a great swimmer I have nothing to worry about." The truth is you could cramp up in the water and go down in a matter of seconds. That life jacket could be the difference between you rolling over on your back and letting that cramp go away and having to try and swim for your life. The Yakima Valley Fire department doesn't want to respond to a search and rescue emergency but the community can trust that they would at a moment's notice. Help keep the Fire Department busy with other important tasks and strap on your life jacket!
