The folks at SecurityBaron.com have crunched the numbers to determine the safest cities in the state of Washington.
They used actual data gathered by the FBI's analysis of crime rates from 2017 and 2018's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program to come up with an overall safety score. Yakima came in 95th place out of 116 cities, towns and municipalities.

Scores were based on the following factors:

  • Murder rate
  • Rape rate
  • Robbery rate
  • Assault rate
  • Burglary rate
  • Theft rate
  • Vehicle theft rate
  • Arson rates
  • Median income

The city of Duvall was deemed the safest place to live, while another Yakima Valley town, Union Gap, came in dead last. The Tri-Cities scored mostly better than most cities in the Yakima Valley. Seattle came in 107th place.
