Yakima Enjoys Holiday Weekend Right Around the Corner
A holiday three-day weekend is this weekend with the Presidents Day holiday landing on Monday, February 20.
That means you'll find city, county and state offices closed because it's a federal holiday.
City of Yakima facilities will be closed Monday, February 20th, for Presidents Day. The facilities closed include City Hall, Y-PAC, Public Works, and Parks and Recreation offices. City officials say business offices for the Police and Fire Departments will be closed. Emergency services will remain available.
YOU COULD CALL UBER FOR A RIDE BUT DON'T LOOK FOR THE BUS
If you ride the bus you'll have to find another ride because Yakima Transit will not provide bus service Monday and the City’s Harman Center will be closed.
If Monday is your garbage day place your container at the curb because service will continue as scheduled Monday, but the Refuse Division’s office will be closed.
There will be no delays next week for refuse collection. Want to pay a bill? A release from the city says utility, sewer and refuse customers can use a bill payment kiosk 24/7 outside City Hall, 129 N. 2nd Street.
MANY WHO SWIM AT LIONS POOL WILL HAVE TO SWIM TO ANOTHER POOL
Along with city, county, state and federal offices closed the cities' Lions Pool is also closed but not because of the holiday. The pool is closed temporarily due to a mechanical issue with the pool’s main pump. City officials say "It is estimated the pool will be closed through Friday, Feb. 24th. Repairs will be completed as quickly as possible to re-open the pool after the mechanical issue is resolved. When repairs are finished and the pool is ready to be re-opened, the City will provide notice using its various communications platforms. “We certainly apologize to the loyal users of Lions Pool that the facility will have to be closed while the pump is repaired,” said Parks & Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson."
