Washington Rates As 16th Safest State For COVID-19
With only about 1% of Americans having been inoculated with the coronavirus vaccine (as of January 20), it would be interesting to know just, exactly, which state is, and has been, the safest in the country in its response and handling of COVID-19.
Regardless of where you stand on the pandemic and the mandates that have, and haven't, been handed down, it can be frustrating to try and find data that isn't being spun to push a particular agenda or point of view.
Enter our friends from WalletHub.com who have used data and a methodology to rank the safest states in the union. Our state, Washington is in the top half, coming in at number 16 overall.
The categories that were used to create the list in their findings include:
* COVID-19 transmission
* positive testing
* hospitalizations and death
* population getting vaccinated
A couple of notes of interest include the fact that Washington State has, virtually, the LOWEST rate of transmission of any state and that red states (states that voted Republican in the 2020 election) are slightly safer than blue (Democrat) states.
Washington also ranks, relatively, low in COVID death rate despite also ranking lower in vaccination rate.
