Top 8 Home Cures For A Throbbing Toothache
This past Saturday, I had just left the Yakima Juneteenth Freedom Celebration at Southeast Center Community Park, and on my way home, I felt immense, throbbing pain in one of my back teeth.
YIKES! I felt as though I had turned into that human-eating plant from Little Shop of Horrors.
I haven't had any problems with my teeth for several years because of the excellent care I've been receiving at Avanta Dental, but I will confess I haven't kept up with my teeth cleaning as well as I should be. If you are able to afford it, of course, the very best thing to cure your throbbing toothache is to go to the dentist. The way my bank account is set up at the moment, unfortunately, I cannot afford any sort of trip to the dentist.
I decided to search online and I found a recommendation to use acupressure to both sides of my ankle bones (it helped a bit). I ended up taking three extra-strength Excedrin pills and also chewed slowly on a big clove of garlic (my breath wasn't too happy about that). I also put an ice pack on my cheek and drank a shot glass of Merlot to try to numb the pain*. Finally, I turned to my faithful Facebook friends to ask for their best suggestions for curing a toothache.
Clove Oil
Chewing on a garlic clove
Vodka
Pliers
Whiskey
Ambesol
Diluted Peroxide
Sip of Water
*For instant toothache relief, drinking a sip of cold or room-temperature water helped me a lot. The pain only went away for about 1-2 minutes at a time, so I ended up drinking an entire water bottle!
