I have used this product as a pre-poo conditioner, and when I tell you that it is a game-changer for my 9-year-old daughter Willow's extremely thick and naturally curly hair, I honestly mean it!

She didn't inherit her gifted mane from me. My hair is thin, sparse, and in my older age, has turned mildly water wavy. My hair doesn't take much to condition or shampoo. My daughter's hair, however, is very porous. She needs a hair conditioner with a lot of "slip", otherwise, I will be spending anywhere from 6 to 8 hours trying to comb out the tangles.

First of all, if you don't know what a "Pre-Poo" is, don't worry, you are not alone. I actually hate the term "pre-poo", but whoever came up with the concept is the one who got the privilege of naming it whatever the heck they wanted. It is short for pre, or before, you sham-POO your hair. You want to use a water bottle (I prefer scalding hot water inside it because the heat from the water creates a better slip along with your next ingredient-a great conditioner.

I think I have found that great conditioner. I have tried practically everything from OGX, Paul Mitchell, Shea Moisture, Cream of Nature, you name it. It was L'Oreal's "Elvive" that brought about a hair revolution in my house.

I pronounce Elvive as ELL-VEE-VAY. I am sure I am pronouncing it wrong but I don't give a flip because this magic stuff has great slip!

Step 1: Spray the sh** out of the section of hair you wish to detangle. I'm not talking WAP, I'm talking SAP (saturated-a**portion of hair, get your mind out of the gutta!)

Step 2: Scoop a small glop on the tips of your index, middle, and ring fingers and rub the ELL-VEE-VAY on the roots of the section of hair

Step 3: Continue finger combing the portion of hair. Use the best detangling tool you can find, whether it's your fingers, a wide-toothed comb, and what have you. I actually prefer to use this detangling brush because it makes detangling a breeze:

Getting rid of those mangled tangles is a breeze and only takes me up to THREE hours to complete.

No more tears from my daughter as I detangle her hair. ELL-VEE-VAY has saved at least FIVE hours of crying, moaning, and whining in my house when it's Hair Day--and that's just from me!

I got L'Oreal's Elvive Total Repair 5 Conditioner at Ulta Beauty for just $6.99 but you can get it here for less than that (especially if you have Prime shipping):
