A woman who was beat and run over in a domestic violence incident last Friday in Yakima died at a Seattle hospital on Tuesday. Police say woman was the mother of the 33-year-old suspects 2-year-old son. The suspect, Lumberto Rodriguez now faces a charge of first degree murder after he is released from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Rodriguez also faces charges in connection with a head on crash on Highway 97 last Friday night that killed one person and injured another.

Yakima Police continue to investigate a domestic assault and a fatal crash reported on Friday. Police were called to the area of 9th Avenue and Chestnut Friday afternoon where they were told a man had run over the mother of his 2-year-old son.

Police say the man, identified as 33-year-old Lumberto Fernandez Rodriguez confronted the woman in the parking lot of the Yakima YWCA on Friday afternoon. He drove in her car to a nearby parking lot and assaulted her, knocking her unconscious. He then drove back to the YWCA and retrieved his truck and then returned to run over the woman.
The 30-year-old woman remains in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. After the assault a news release says Rodriguez, who had a history of domestic violence with the victim, dropped the two-year-old child off with family in the Wapato area and then was reported to be driving the wrong way on Highway 97 in Wapato.  A few minutes later, the suspect vehicle collided, head on, with another vehicle. A passenger in the other vehicle was killed and another passenger suffered broken bones. Rodriguez was also injured and is also being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The two-year-old child involved in the incident was located and turned over to Washington State Child Protective Services.
The suspect faces possible charges of attempted first-degree murder and attempted first-degree kidnapping.
