A Yakima Group, Justice Housing Yakima continues a plan to open a tiny homes village called "Cottage Hill Village" to help area homeless. And a big fundraiser is set for August 24 at AntoLin Cellars on Front Street.
The proposed site is at 310 North Lewis Avenue, the former home of Bauer's Nursery near Milroy Park.
The village would consist of 30 homes with a maximum of 50 people all 18 and over will be allowed to live on the property.
At a recent meeting for area neighbors Justice Housing officials handed out informational packets with pledge envelopes as they try and raise money for the project that's been planned for more than 2 years in the area. Justice officials say they're still hoping to grant funding through the city or state.
The fundraiser on August 24 at AntoLin Cellars will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Officials say they've created a goal of raising $500,000 to purchase property and begin the development. So far they've raised about $129,000. for more information check the website at justicehousing.org.
