It's been quite educational analyzing the new list out of the most iconic sandwiches in every state.

Would you find it hard to argue with some of the picks? Of course you could and probably would....like Washington...more on that in a bit.

The list features seemingly obvious picks like a lobster roll in Maine and cheesesteak in Pennsylvania , but also some inspired picks like a Fluffernutter sandwich in Massachusetts, not to be confused with the Muffuletta sandwich in Louisiana, and say baby, that there Elvis sandwich looks mighty-tasty-fine in Tennessee, thank you very much.

Can you even get your mouth around a Yak Burger in Alaska? The Fried bologna sandwich in Arkansas makes perfect sense and Idaho's Basque Lamb Sandwich sounds tasty, I've never tried it. I used to get lamb burgers at the Central Washington State Fair in Yakima when I was a lad, so I'll have to give that one a try, say on my next sojourn to Silverwood.

Others of note: Pheasant salad sandwich in South Dakota, Minnesota's Juicy Lucy and Kansas' Burnt Ends sandwich. You're touting burnt ends? Look at it, it's burnt!

Vermont goes waaay out on a limb with The Vermonter. Your creativity inspires.

Oregon chooses the Gardenburger, Washington's is the Banh mi.

Excuse me? What in the world is a Banh mi?

Well, thanks to Washington’s large west side Vietnamese population, it’s not as difficult to get as expected. The sandwich is roasted pork, pâté, and pickled vegetables, served on a crusty baguette. A mix of salty, savory, and sweet flavors.

All of this is making me hungry.
