Yakima Remembers Lives Lost on Overdose Awareness Day

Every family has been affected by an overdose in one way or another. For some, it’s a friend or a neighbor. For others, it can hit closer to home.

When that happens, it can be devastating, but it is important to know that you are not alone, that even though no one will know exactly what you and your family are going through, others have faced similar circumstances. And the National Day of Remembrance is coming up, and an event in Yakima is scheduled to take part in it.

10th Annual Community Remembrance Event In Yakima

You are invited by Triumph Treatment Services and Yakima Recovery Events to the 10th annual Community Remembrance Event in Yakima.

On Monday, August 31st at Sarge Hubbard Park (111 S 18th St in Yakima), you can join with other members of our community for an afternoon of remembrance, support, and hope at this free event starting at 3 pm.

Overdoses In Yakima County In 2025

110 deaths due to overdoses were recorded in Yakima County in 2025, with a vast majority linked to synthetic opioids, like fentanyl. That is 110 too many.

Adults ranging from 20 to 59 were the primary reported cases, with a vast majority of the deaths being male.
