Washington State Health officials say the omicron variant is spreading fast throughout the state and they're urging everyone to get the COVID-19 shot. You are invited to a COVID-19 and Flu shot clinic on Saturday in Sunnyside.

Both flu shots and COVID-19 shots will be available at the Saturday clinic

The clinic will be held from 9:00 am-2:00 pm Saturday at Mid Valley Community Clinic, 700 South 11th Street in Sunnyside. They'll be offering vaccines to those 6 months and older at no cost and Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines for those eligible. You'll need your insurance card for flu shots. Walk-in's are welcome.

State officials say they're concerned about a future surge in COVID-19 cases

State health officials say the variant could cause a future uptick in people hospitalized in Yakima and throughout the state. While state officials are saying they're seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases they're not seeing that when it comes to the flu. In fact there have been zero lab-confirmed influenza deaths reported for the 2021-2022 season to date. They also say they have seen zero influenza-like illness outbreaks in long term care facilities anywhere in the state. The current flu activity in the state is considered low.
