Ready to make a difference? It starts with one person willing to pick up trash and then they bring their friends and they bring theirs and so on and so forth until that one person, *cough *cough Katie Jelinek creates a Facebook group called Keep Yakima Clean.

Inspired by what she saw happening in the Tri-Cities she'd been searching for a way to give back in our community when she realized it starts with all the trash.

"If everyone made an effort to keep their cars cleaned of loose trash, tied their trash bags tight before putting them into bins, and picked up around their own area, it would make such a difference!" Katie Jelinek

Want to Help?

First, I would recommend becoming a member of Keep Yakima Clean on Facebook or Instagram and if you don't have social media, guaranteed someone you know can handle that for you so you're always in the know.

Announcements about upcoming cleans will be placed there and it just so happens there is one taking place tomorrow, Saturday, December 11th, 2021 beginning at 10:30 am

We will be cleaning around the Vistors Center as well as by the freeway entrance and exit on N. Fair ave. We will be parking in the little parking lot closest to N. Fair ave. As always safety is number one priority so please dress accordingly and always Pay attention to your surroundings. This event will be semi kid friendly as it will be along side a road and parking lots so parent supervision is required. If you would like to give back to the community or if you are in need of community service hours this is an opportunity to help out. All utensils will be provided.

Everything you do matters so do it not for recognition but because you want to. If you don't want to, would you at the very least share the information to help spread the word about this awesome chance to give back! FYI, if you are a business wanting to donate trash bags, vests, water, or have a truck that can assist with hauling junk. All of it is needed and will be received gratefully!
