2021 Naches Sportsman’s Days OFFICIALLY BACK ON!
Back in may, when we were all still unsure of what the state of the state of Washington would be through out the rest of this year, (you know, because of COVID), the Lion's Club of Naches decided to err on the side of caution and safety and cancel it's long running community festival. That might have been a little premature!
A post on the Naches Community Bulletin Board simply states:
Sportsman's Days Are Back On Again! Wonderful community celebration, family fun, food, lots of activities and music!
When the initial announcement was made, many were shocked, especially when other events like the Central Washington State Fair & Chinookfest are (as of this writing) planning on going ahead with their festivities. It looks like Naches Sportsman's Days will indeed happen on Friday & Saturday, September 10th & 11th.
It's great to see that the town I grew up in, has decided to go ahead with the community fair. Many of Naches alumni joked "They canceled Sportsman's Days again? We understand last year, but this year? We only canceled school if there was 3 feet of snow on the ground and a cow froze to the road on the way up to the high school!"
The community fair started back in 1949. It benefits a number of different community and school organizations and is indeed fun for the whole family. The 2 day free event offers carnival games and rides. Live music and comedy, vendor booths, car show, kids events like fishing and archery, a parade and the annual lip sync competition.
