2 Days in Yakima: What Every Tourist Should Do
I am getting excited because my new friend is coming to visit me here in Yakima. He lives in Canada and I couldn’t believe it when he sent me the text that he finally got his passport renewed after the Canadians endured a six-months-long backlog processing documents. He told me he has two days to come spend with me in Yakima. What all should I have him do and see here?
I would definitely take him to a pub. I’m not sure if I would go the dive bar route or the upscale bar route, so why not a bit of BOTH? I will take him to Bill’s Place for pulled pork nachos and McGuire’s Irish Pub for a Sunday brunch with Irish beer!

He doesn’t know this yet, but I’ve got my sights set on romance during my friend’s visit with me, so the next thing I will take him to has to be memorable. I’m not sure if I would suggest we (slowly) walk up a hill or have a picnic at sunset so why not BOTH? He’s going to be taken to that hilly side of Franklin Park and I will set up a sweet little picnic for us at dusk. The foods and apple juices will be Yakima Valley treats that I pick up at the Yakima Visitor’s Center and Tree Top Visitor’s Center!

My guy has to try a Cheese Zombie during his two-day stay in Yakima. If he doesn’t, I won’t let him leave! Many restaurants and coffee shops try to duplicate the best cheese zombie and tomato soup combo we’ve ever had (Shorty’s Sweets, Treats, and Eats), but Mama Corie’s restaurant & bakery in downtown Yakima is a close second. Speaking of treats, I’ll probably whisk him away to Essencia Bakery, too, in hopes that they will have some of their Pain du Chocolate fresh out the kitchen that day!

I’m noticing a strong pattern that I’ve only considered taking him places where he can get fed. Well, they DO say, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!” Help me out here, Yakima Valley!
