The Yakima Humane Society has some new volunteer opportunities that are now available for you.

There is a new literacy program where your children can volunteer to read to dog or cat. If you are a senior citizen, check out YHS's new "Seniors for Seniors" program that match you up with a senior dog at the shelter. Both of these programs are free and open to the public during suggested hours.

You can always support the Humane Society by volunteering to help answer phone calls, clean animal in-take cages, or donate nutritious pet food. You can even stop by on certain days to take one of the shelter's dogs out for a walk in the adjacent dog park.

If you are not able to support with monetary donations or attend any of their hosted events (such as the "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" series, crab feed, Fur Ball Gala and more), there is one final new way you can help support the Yakima Humane Society. You can now volunteer to be a Pet Foster Parent!
