Huge Need for Volunteer Board Members for the Yakima Libraries Foundation

COULD YOU BE THE ONE THEY ARE LOOKING FOR?

If you know anyone that would be interested in becoming a Board Member for the Yakima Libraries Foundation, please let them know about this story! Save the Yakima Libraries Foundation!

A friend of mine reached out to me and told me that the Yakima Libraries Foundation is in jeopardy of shutting down permanently if they cannot locate replacements for departing board members, whose terms end in July 2022. I told her I would do what I could to help her spread the word.

My friend told me that if the Yakima Libraries Foundation closes, that means no more of those huge public book sales the Yakima Libraries have at least once a year.

HOW LONG IS THE TERM FOR A YAKIMA LIBRARIES FOUNDATION BOARD MEMBER?*

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer board member of the Yakima Libraries Foundation, the board term is three (3) years and a person can serve up to three (3) terms in a row. The Yakima Libraries Foundation board members handle particulars like fundraising for the library to help fund author visits, summer reading program performers, and other library programs, as relayed to me by my friend.

WHO TO CONTACT TO BECOME A YAKIMA LIBRARIES FOUNDATION BOARD MEMBER:

For more information, contact President of the Yakima Libraries Foundation board, Dan Seifert, who previously served as a Yakima Libraries Trustee. The Foundation phone number is (509) 317-1562. I am encouraging community members of color to strongly be encouraged to apply so that the Yakima Libraries Foundation has a great representation of people from multiple ethnicities.
