The Yakima City Council held a special meeting Tuesday where council members appointed an acting city manager and created a plan to locate an interim city manager. The council also voted in favor of allowing the current city manager to find a new assistant city manager.
It was a long discussion and in the end the council appointed city attorney Cynthia Martinez as the acting city manager beginning August 21. The council also voted in favor of the city contacting the International City/County Management Association to find an interim manager.
Current city manager Cliff Moore is leaving in August to become director for Washington State University Extension in Jefferson County. His last day on the Job in the city is August 20.
