The manager of the White Pass Ski Resort says he'll make the call Friday morning on whether to open the area for weekend skiing and riding. Kevin McCarthy says 4 inches of snow fell at the base area, and 6-8 inches collected in the upper areas on Wednesday night.

McCarthy says that's close, but still not enough to open. He's hoping for more snow from a big storm expected Thursday night and into Friday morning.
McCarthy says if they get enough snow, the plan is to open the Great White chair so people can access the front side of the mountain.
If the ski area opens on Saturday it'll be the same date the area opened last year -- Dec. 14.
