There Is A New Miss Yakima County
The Miss Yakima County pageant first took place in Yakima at the Seasons Performance Hall back in 2008. This pageant is a scholarship program. Were these ladies not only competing for a title. They were also competing for a scholarship.
And according to the Miss Yakima County Website. The Miss Yakima County Pageant is a step towards Miss Washington and Miss America competitions. So this pageant is a preliminary to those competitions.
The pageant is still going strong. Covid extended some of these young ladies' titles runs for 2020-2021. But it was time for a change.
On Sunday (Jan. 16th) Sunnyside High school opened its doors and auditorium. For The Miss Yakima County Pageant. These young ladies and girls worked hard. With support from their family and friends.
The pageant included the interviews, the evening gowns, the talent competition. Each of these young ladies also has their own platforms. On what they wanted to raise awareness to help their communities.
There was also the introduction of the Yakima Sparkles-Princesses. There was no competing for these little girls. Their ages ranged from 4 - 11 yrs old. All these little girls are from around the valley. They did a dance routine. Each little girl was crowned on stage. In their own dresses.

Also should not forget to mention Teen in Training, Kylieann Rhoads. She didn't compete but took part in the pageant. In preparations for the future when she does run for the title.

With these final farewells from the young ladies. It was time to crown a new Miss Yakima County. Just a quick reminder. The Miss Yakima County Pageant is a scholarship program. Each winner received a scholarship. I know their parents a very happy about that.
