A Yakima 19 year-old who shot his father in the face, killing him, won't be charged.

Benjamin Rodriguez is believed to have shot his father in self-defense after his father pointed a rifle at him.

Benjamin said his father, Jose, went on a rampage after he wasn't able to get into a safe that held Benjamin's grandparents' medication. Jose started shooting off his rifle outside. Benjamin then grabbed a .22 caliber rifle.

Investigators were told Jose had a long history of abuse and drug usage.

When making his decision, Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic said that the teen had shot his father when he thought his father was about to shoot him.

Brusic chose not to pursue any murder or manslaughter charges against the 19 year-old.
