SHOW US YOUR TATS: Who Do You Recommend for the Best Tattoos in Yakima Valley?
Is it called a tattoo parlor or a tattoo salon? Whatever you want to call them, most tattoo shops in the Yakima Valley are only open by appointment these days because of COVID-19 safety precautions. If you've been thinking about getting a tattoo, you might be struggling with which design to get (or designs, plural) AND you may be feeling torn about which tattoo shops are the best in town. We asked our listeners for some recommendations and to show off their tattoos.
I WASN'T ALLOWED TO GET A TATTOO IN MY YOUTH
I grew up in a very strict family and church that forbade us to get tattoos. They considered it "worldly" and an indication you were a "rebel". I don't subscribe to any of those beliefs anymore. I think tattoos are lovely ways to have pieces of art that is meaningful to each person getting one placed on their body.
WHEN AM I GOING TO GET MY FIRST TATTOO?
I am planning on getting my first tattoo later this month (February)! For the past decade, I have been saying that I am going to take the plunge and go under the tattoo needle, but it has seemed to be that when I had the time to sit down in the tattoo parlor chair, I didn't have the money, and vice versa. I'm now in a financially secure space where I have both the time AND the money to get a tattoo! I still haven't figured out what I'm going to get though. ARRRGH, CHOICES!
WHAT KIND OF TATTOO DESIGN WILL I GET?
When I was in my early 30s, I had decided I wanted a tat that was a string of small cluster of comets, or shooting stars, right above my heart because that is where my birthmark is. As the years have rolled by, I've decided that I love my birthmark and don't want to cover it up! I didn't have a child back then either, so I hadn't considered that I might want a tat of my child's name (Willow) tatted in a pretty cursive handwriting. I had also considered getting a tat of a willow tree branch to honor my daughter.
Well, why don't I just get all of the above (and then some)! Nothing is stopping me except deciding on what to get. There is one local tattoo shop that is having a Valentine's Day flash tattoo sale, so I'll probably take advantage of that! I think it's just for couples who want to get matching tattoos so I'll probably have to convince the tattoo artist that I'm part of a throuple or something! HAAAA!
WHY DO PEOPLE GET TATTOOS ANYWAY?
I've noticed just looking from the gallery of local listener tattoos that many have tats representing deceased family members, children, symbols of surviving illnesses, and depictions of their favorite flowers and animals.
Okay, enough rambling from me. Check out this amazing gallery of tattoos from our local listeners! Hopefully, you will be inspired for your next tat!
