‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Adds an ‘iZombie’ Star, But No Calista Flockhart

It’d be too much to ask for Supergirl to start crossing universes with every CW show, but we might have the next best thing. iZombie star Rahul Kohli will guest star in an upcoming episode as a notable DC villain (and Lena Luthor’s ex), but new word suggests Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant might not return for Season 2 after all.

First things first, Entertainment Weekly reports that Kohli will appear in upcoming episode “Ace Reporter” as Jack Spheer, described as “a charismatic tech genius who has spent decades working on a medical innovation that will eradicate major illnesses and change the face of the world.” The character is also noted as Lena Luthor’s ex, but that tension may be short lived, as his trip to National City to show off his tech to the press may coincide with the comic accident that turns him into DC’s mind-controlling “Biomax.”

With good news must also come the bad, however, as TVLine has a negative outlook on Calista Flockhart returning at any point in Season 2: “I wouldn’t put money on seeing Cat again this season.” Previously, reports stated “Flockart is not currently confirmed to appear in any additional Season 2 episodes,” though at the very least, “there’s talk of a short-term comeback in the spring.”
