Stolen Van Driver Wanted in Kennewick MVA Hit & Run [VIDEO]

Kennewick Police are searching for the man responsible for multiple hit and run collisions on Saturday. After running a red light, the driver of the stolen van struck several vehicles, before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses to the collisions say the man was wearing dark clothing. Here's video of the alleged suspect running from the scene.

At about 6:10 pm, an officer noticed a van traveling west on 10th Avenue without headlights. The officer attempted to pull the van over at South Ely Street. However, the driver fled at a high rate of speed. The driver was reckless by speeding and using the center lane to drive through traffic. Due to safety concerns, the officer chose not to pursue the van.

A short time later, the officer came upon a five-vehicle collision at the intersection of West 10th Avenue and South Olympia Street.

The driver of the van fled the scene, running through apartment complexes.

After investigation, it was determined the Ben Franklin Transit van was stolen just minutes before the officer came upon it.

The driver of the stolen van ran a red signal causing the collisions. The motorists involved had minor injuries. Three of the vehicles were total losses, and two were driven away.
