Police Searching For Downtown Shooting Suspect
Yakima Police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot in the face in downtown Yakima last Thursday in the cities latest gang related shooting. The Yakima County Prosecutors Office has issued an arrest warrant for 40-year-old Alicia Marie McCormick charging her with first-degree assault.

The shooting was reported last Thursday at about 4:30 pm in a busy downtown. Officers found a man shot in the face. Police say they believe the shooting happened at the Senator Apartments at 31 N Front Street.

Yakima Police continue to investigate a vicious attack last week
A Yakima Police Department Corrections Officer continues to be treated at a Yakima hospital after being assaulted Thursday by an inmate at the Yakima City Jail. The officer, who hasn't been identified was injured at about 4:30 pm Thursday when he entered the cell of a 37-year-old inmate. Police say the inmate violently assaulted the officer knocking him unconscious.
Other officers responded and helped the injured officer until medics arrived. The remains in critical but stable condition at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
The 37-year-old suspect was booked into the Yakima County Jail on assault charges.
The Yakima Police Internal Affairs Unit is leading the investigation into this incident.
No word on what the motive was in the attack.
