Opioids have impacted many lives in the Yakima Valley. Many have died of overdoses. 65 people have died of overdoses in Yakima County so far this year. 49 in all of last year. The impact of opioids on the Yakima Valley is the title of a special public zoom forum hosted by regionally- and nationally-recognized experts. The forum starts at 10:00 a.m. on the Safe Yakima Valley Facebook page and zoom. The panelists include Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice. He'll  be joined by Dr. Edward Bilsky -Provost, Professor and Chief Academic Officer, Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences, Dr. Raul Garcia -Emergency Physician, Yakima County Sheriff Bob  Udell -Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic, Yakima County Prosecutor,  Nick Udell Community Advocate and Businessman and Anna Stephenson Senior at Davis High School and member of the Safe Yakima Drug Free Action Team Youth Coalition. Debra Yergen, the Executive Director of Safe Yakima Valley will talk more about the forum at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday on KIT.
