“There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I think about what recently happened at the United States Capitol yesterday (that ended up getting Donald Trump kicked off Facebook and Twitter indefinitely) and how deeply disappointed I was in what occurred there. Many Americans and people from around the world, saw our Capitol building infiltrated and ransacked by an insurrection of rioters. It was deeply disappointing and embarrassing to me. Some of the rioters were interviewed by reporters and they said they were there to prevent the Electoral College votes because they wanted to "take their country back"--from whom exactly, I would like to know.
.
There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love. I love this country, for all its faults and missteps, I truly love living in the quote, "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave". And I love the people I have come to know here from birth.

We collectively have a deep love for America but now we see the pushback from domestic terrorists, not just in D.C., but in cities all over. They destroy Black Lives Matter signs in Selah and Yakima, they threaten our government officials at their residences (see Governor Inslee), they call us racial epithets and attacks on our pleas for equitable treatment of Black lives during our times of deepest need, and they attack our federal buildings whilst federal public servants are still inside. It's a hot mess. Even Trump had to backpedal the violent rhetoric he's been dishing out for the past four years. He finally conceded the 2020 presidential election and is now calling for a "smooth transition of power".

The above quote from Dr. King Jr. leaped out to me from my computer screen and brought me peace. Dr. King is right, there can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love. So let's do all we can to keep love alive!
