Officials at Legends Casino Hotel in Toppenish are working to open the facility as soon as possible but no opening date has yet been made. Tribal officials are saying they're following state guidelines even though they aren't required to do that. A news release from the casino/hotel says they're currently preparing employees and the facility to reopen at the earliest date possible. They say they're putting up plexiglass shields and social distancing place markers and reminders throughout the facility. Officials say they're working with local health officials to determine a reopening date.

Tribal casinos are already open in other states. In Connecticut the Mohegan Sun and Foxwood Resort Casino opened on June 1 despite the governors concerns. Governor Gavin Newsom in California is urging tribes to keep casinos closed because of the possibility of a rise in COVID-19 cases.
