Wild Mushroom Show in Yakima Educated and Fascinated Attendees [PHOTOS]
"Why did everyone want to be friends with a mushroom? They heard he was a fun guy."
The Yakima Valley Mushroom Society just held one of their wild mushroom exhibits. They seem to do these a couple times throughout the year at the Arboritum and are completely free to the public.
I figured I'd check it out as I was curious about different types of mushrooms as the only mushrooms I'm ever in contact with are either on my pizza or in my video games.
And, though, I was disappointed that nobody dressed up like Toad from the Super Mario games, I still had fun seeing the different types of mushrooms.
Some more traditional looking and some mushrooms didn't look like standard mushrooms at all. Some looked like hunks of tree bark or even like blogs of jelly (that moved like jelly, too).
Here's a bunch of photos I took while I was there. Fun to see which were edible, which were poisonous, and which ones didn't really serve any purpose other than just being a mushroom.
Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more shows in the future.
