These Weird Compliments Left Yakima Valley Residents Speechless
Have you ever gotten a compliment so strange that it made you scratch your head in disbelief? Either a backhanded compliment or a remark so weird and uncanny, you just don’t know how to take it.
We asked our audience from across the Yakima Valley about their oddest comments. The responses we got were pretty odd. Check them out below.
My Strangest Compliment
Being in radio and doing stand-up comedy for many years, I’ve had my fair share of comments made to me. Some genuine, some insulting, and others that were meant to be sweet, cautious, and informative.
Bobcat Goldthwait (comedian, actor, director) has a joke that he said was a real experience, and I believe him, because the same thing happened to me.
A lady came up to me and said:
“Hey, no offense, but you kind of look like that Timmy guy from the radio.”
Dumbfounded, I didn’t know how to react, so I just blurted out, “Yeah, I get that a lot.”

I’m sure some of our audience’s responses were much better than mine.
Strangest Personal Comments Shared By Yakima Valley Residents
“I had a skinhead in Idaho tell me that I am an “exceptional woman” when he saw my white, blue-eyed toddler and my pregnant belly.” – Jenny M.
“I was told that I was retardily awesome.” Krysta P.

“I’ve got nice hands! Like George Costanza, I guess? I don’t know.” – Derek W.
“You have some great-looking calves.” – Sean D.
And the one that just made my heart ache a little came from Donald P.
“I've been a lead man in several rock bands for quite a while, and a few years ago someone came up to me and said, ‘dude, you must have been awesome when you were younger.’ I was 52 at the time and just laid out a killer set… talk about a backhanded compliment.”
