Who else is a close personal friend of Al's? The answer is everyone who is a fan. Technically, in the '80s & early '90s, you had to subscribe to his mailing list; back when snail mail was all the rage, then you were officially a close personal friend of Al's, and it was official because you had a letter that had an official seal. But that's enough bragging about my status in life, all of us "Weird Al"-coholics can rejoice because we have a promise from "The Weird One" himself: NEW MUSIC NEXT YEAR!

At Vulture.com's Vulture Festival 2023, "Weird Al" Yankovic was one of the special guests, and during the live interview, they talked about the future and the promise of new music!

"I don't think there's gonna be like another bona fide 'Weird Al' album per se, but I want to keep writing music." – Al Yankovic

This is massive news for all of us fans. He has released music and comedy sketches here and there for the web and TV shows. Of course, we can't forget about the hugely popular Bio-Pic-Parody film "WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY" (which will FINALLY be available for home physical media collectors on December 12th).

As far as a full album, it's been almost a decade since the 2014 'Mandatory Fun' album.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Al about the release of that album (Mandatory Fun). Check out that video:

We have it on good authority that new music will be released from Al, straight from the man himself.

"I'll make a commitment: I will put out at least one new single next year!"
– Al Yankovic

We now just have to wait and wonder, will it be a parody, an original, a polka, or some kind of beautiful musical sandwich dealing with food? Either way, I'm on board and am eagerly awaiting it!
