Voo-Dew in Yakima? We Try The New Mystery Soda!
I've been having fun taste-testing all sorts of junk foods and soft drinks. So much so that my friends have been bringing me new things to try and review. Some are great, some not so much. This one, much like its marketing... is a mystery!
THE TASTE TESTING REVIEWING LEGAL STUFF!
If you've read my other reviews, you know I have this fun little disclaimer, and this one is no different! This is in NO WAY a paid advertisement for or against this brand of soft drink. My friend purchased a case and gave one to me for the reason listed above. I did offer to pay him back, but he's a bro. I am reviewing this can of Mtn Dew without compensation or promise of payment in any form.
TASTE TEST OF MTN DEW: VOO-DEW SODA
A first pour, I was surprised that it was clear. You'd think with the flavor being "Voo-dew", it'd be purple or black or something NOT clear. But it goes to the whole mystery of the drink. (Yes top of the can says "Mystery Flavor"). My comparison is a pretty deep dive. When I worked at a medical lab, we would perform a test that was called a "glucose tolerance test" and was used to test your body's response to sugar and can be screened for diabetes. I would do this test on many ladies who were pregnant. On a dare, I drank one of the bottles. This Mtn Dew reminded me of that! Since that is how I compared it in my brain, I felt it better to get a couple of other opinions!

A 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th OPINION OF MTN DEW: VOO-DEW!
So my friend who gave me the can, and two of our other friends tried it before me. All of them compared it to "Ground of sweet tarts with seltzer water being shoved down my gullet". Another friend said in his best Ralph Wiggum (The Simpsons) impression "Taste like... diabetes." Even though they finished their drinks, it was pretty clear, they weren't eager for another can.
I tried my can with my co-worker John Riggs. He had a more pleasant impression of it. Saying to him, it tasted like a gummy worm flavored soda. He could kind of get a sweet tart taste (after his taste test, I told him of my friends reaction), but he couldn't quite place it. He did think it was good and would have another can.
