It’s been a while since I’ve done a “new junk-food review” type article, so the other day when I was shopping and saw these chips, I was like “Oh Hot Damn! New Chilli chips!” (Ask my wife, I literally said that). I wish the excitement from seeing the bag carried over to when I was done with the bag.

TASTE TEST OF GAME DAY CHILI FLAVORED LAY'S CHIPS

As you can tell from the bag, they are “Chili” flavored. I must be eating some really powerful chili because these really had no taste to me. I felt a little bit of spice, but other than that, it just tasted like a regular lays chip that is a little more salty (and hotter after a handful). If this is what to expect for the BIG GAME, it might be a pretty low point scoring event.

A SECOND OPINION OF GAME DAY CHILI FLAVORED LAY'S CHIPS

My wife was a little kinder. She didn’t mind them, and she could “kind of” get the chili taste, but not really.

“If you gave me one and told me to tell you what the flavor was, I couldn’t answer you. But since I knew they suppose to taste like chili, I can taste the chili.” – Stephanie (my wife).

So when I was telling my brother about these, he said he had had them before. So that got me going down the chip-hole of the internet. Lay’s introduced them in late 2020 for a limited time to co-inside with football season’s big game. Other reviews of these chips (from early 2021) commented how it had more flavor and a smell of BBQ. If Lay’s tweaked the recipe in the past few years, they might want to tweak it back, because I didn’t get any of that.
