Security Footage Leads to Arrest of Man Accused of Voyeurism in Sunnyside, WA
A 29-year-old man from Sunnyside has been arrested on a felony voyeurism charge after police allege he recorded young girls on his phone during a visit to a Sunnyside store on Halloween.
POLICE MET WITH THE VICTIM'S FATHER
Sunnyside Officers were called to the Maverik Gas-station on Saturday for an incident reported the night before. According to court documents from the Yakima County Prosecutors Office, the 29-year-old suspect is alleged to have followed a young girl around the store while her father was watching and sitting in his vehicle outside.
THE FATHER TOLD POLICE HE WATCHED THE SUSPECT INSIDE THE STORE
The father told police his family had stopped at the Maverik store, and while his daughter was inside, he watched a man following her while holding a cell phone. He also reported that he saw the suspect drop a bag of chips as his daughter paused at a counter to get a drink.
According to the father's witness statements, the man inside the convenience store then knelt down to pick up the chip bag and simultaneously was recording up her dress with his cell phone.

AFTER WATCHING, THE FATHER WALKED INSIDE THE STORE
The father told police he left his car and went inside the convenience market, where he approached the 29-year-old man near the bathroom. The man was reportedly watching a video on his phone and the father said he recognized his daughter and the pink skirt she was presently wearing. The father said he next asked the suspect what he was doing and that's when the suspect ran out of the store. The suspect then got inside a vehicle and drove away.
THE SUSPECT FACES A FELONY CHARGE OF VOYERISM
Police were immediately called, and they used security cameras to identify the suspect. Authorities say he was also seen on video also recording other young girls in the parking lot of the store.
The 29-year-old suspect was arrested at his Sunnyside home on Saturday on a charge of first-degree voyeurism, which is a Class C felony in Washington. The investigation continues today.
