Sleeping Outside Hoping You’ll Donate To the Yakima Mission

Like many other companies and organizations it's been a tough year for the Yakima Union Gospel Mission.

FUNDS ARE SHORT DESPITE YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THRIFT STORES

Executive Director Mike Johnson says despite the hugely successful thrift stores owned by the mission the budget crunch heading into a new year he says is serious. Currently more than $60,000 short on funds. Johnson says the thrift stores have allowed the mission to cover administrative costs while being able to use donated funds to help the homeless. But the budget is short and cuts at the mission may become a reality in 2024 unless the shortfall can be covered.

IT'S GOING TO BE A SLEEP ON THE PAVEMENT WEEKEND

In an effort to cover expenses and raise needed funds to help those in need Johnson is holding a special fundraiser at Wrays Market Fresh IGA store at 56th and Summitview. From 10:00 am Friday until 10:00 pm Sunday Johnson is hoping you'll stop by and donate and meet people from the mission who have been able to turn their lives around.

JOHNSON WON'T BE ALONE

Johnson will be joined by community members including KIT's Robert Vickers who will be spending time with Johnson from Friday at 12:00 pm until Saturday at 12:00 pm. Vickers has agreed to match your donations up to $10,000.
