I wore white shorts the other day, which prompted my friend to mention that I was committing a fashion faux pas by wearing white after Labor Day.

Really? Does anyone actually put away their white shorts, capris and pants?

It's still warm out, so why can't I wear my white shorts? And where did this white rule come from?

I did a little digging and it's a little unclear exactly where the no-white-after-Labor Day rule originated, but the best guess is that white was associated with the upper class. So, as upper class you only wore white at the resort you where vacationing at for the summer or at the many social events you attended.

Do you obey the no-white-after-Labor Day rule? Take the poll and tell us ...
