Human Remains Found in Wapato Area Sunday

An investigation is underway into the discovery of human skeletal remains found in an area in Wapato on Sunday. Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice says he doesn't know the age, gender or enthnicity of the remains but he's reviewing missing person reports and dental records while working with the Yakima County Sheriff's Office and the Yakama Nation Police Department. The remains were found by hunters who then contacted authorities.

Curtice says there are many missing person cases in Yakima County and families have submitted dental and other records in case remains are ever found. He says he hopes to make an identification soon.
