I don't know about you, but I'm sick of getting into my car every day and watching the outside temperature gauge jack itself up to over 100 degrees. This excessive heat wave in the Yakima Valley has really been getting out of hand, with temperature highs reaching over 110 degrees some days last week.

Thankfully, it won't be getting that hot this week but it will definitely still feel like we're in the midst of a heat wave. The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures to reach over 95 degrees for at least the next seven (7) days.

If you need some suggestions on how to stay cool, we have written several articles to help you cope with the excessive temperatures like this one and this one. You can also try your hand at making what I call a "bootleg air conditioner", which is putting a big bowl of ice behind one of those box fans and letting the fan draw out the coolness of the ice into your room. I have never made one but there are people who have been swearing by this process for decades so there has to be something to it.

I am one of the blessed ones who has a working air conditioner in my house but I also have a box fan. I leave them both running in my apartment 24/7 so that when I come home from work, I am not walking into what feels like an oven!
