Times are tough but imagine assuming you have a sinus infection but it is so much worse to the point you have now been airlifted to Virginia Seattle Hospital.

That's exactly what has been happening within the Campos family.

Karina reached out and filled me in that her family is in need of any assistance the community is able to provide during this incredibly difficult time.

Her sister, Alexis, who is 23 years old and a single mother of three children all under the age of eight has been in the hospital unable to come home for the past two weeks. The road to recovery is going to be a long one and here's how it happened.

What started out as a sinus infection grew increasingly worse until it was an emergency situation.

Doctors have done testing and have diagnosed her with Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM) . This is a rare autoimmune disease marked by a sudden widespread attack of inflammation in the brain and spinal cord. Alexis is suffering from memory loss and is very confused, she has a very long recovery road ahead of her.

This is such an incredibly devastating story and could have happened to any one of us. When she is finally released from the hospital she will need to be admitted into a rehabilitation facility and we can only hope for the best with her recovery. She is having memory issues and is very confused, it's heartbreaking.

Before her sudden illness, Alexis was a full-time caregiver, picking up extra shifts to help out the clients she loves dearly. She's a loving mother, supportive sibling and daughter. Through the grace of God, they have made it this far and will continue to do so but if you are able to give or share her story on any platform it would greatly be appreciated.

There is a GoFundMe account that has been set-up by her sister Noemi and any donation will go towards Alexis's medical bills and assist with her three growing children.
