Some days are better than others when it comes to saving money while filling the gas tank in your vehicle according to a new study by GasBuddy. The study found the best and worst days to fill up your tank and save money. The study found Monday to be the best day to go to the gas station. The study says "Monday, the first day of the week offers the lowest average gas prices in the majority of the United States. Monday was also the best day to buy gas on GasBuddy's 2017, 2018 and 2019 studies" as well.

It's not the worst day of the week but Friday isn't a money saver day

GasBuddy says Friday was one of the cheapest days in 2021 but this year Friday is considered one of the most expensive days of the week at the pump, and can "perhaps be attributed to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the emerging prominence of work from home lifestyles."

Stay away from the pumps on Thursday says GasBuddy

The worst day to buy gas? It's Thursday.
The GasBuddy study found "when it comes to saving money at the pump, Monday becomes more than the dreaded end of the weekend. GasBuddy analyzed gas price data and found that the first day of the work week offers the lowest average gas price in 17 states, making it yet again the best day to fill-up,” says Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. He says though there is variation in daily gas prices across different states, the consensus is that filling up at the beginning or end of the work week, on Monday or Friday, is the best way to save money. Following Monday, Sunday is the cheapest day to fill-up. But even if you can’t always time your fill ups, the golden rule is to always always shop around before filling up.”

Where are you finding cheap gas?

Average gasoline prices in Yakima have risen 1.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.82 per gallon today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 91 stations in Yakima. Prices in Yakima are 5.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand $1.21 per gallon higher than a year ago.
