It's almost time to start enjoying fresh fruits and vegetables as farmers markets in Yakima and around the state get ready to open this spring. In Yakima, officials at Valley Mall in Union Gap have announced the opening of the Valley Mall Farmers Market, formerly known as the Yakima Farmers Market.

Along with a name change comes other new features at the Valley Mall Market

Changes on the way? A Saturday Market and an entertainment stage. Valley Mall officials have also taken over the management of the market.
“We are celebrating our 50th Anniversary all year long and there’s no better way to bring the community together and celebrate by supporting our local farmers and artisans,” says Jacob Butler, marketing manager. The Valley Mall Farmers Market will open every Saturday, 10:00 am-3:00 pm from May 21 to October 15, in Southwest corner Parking lot at the corner of Valley Mall Blvd & Main Street.

The market will offer more than just fresh farm produce

Not only will you find fresh produce but the market will also feature artists and craftspeople selling fresh meat, baked goods, arts, crafts, gifts and other locally made goods.
The market is looking for more vendors. A news release says;

The Downtown Yakima Farmers Market is also set to open in May

The Downtown Yakima Farmers Market will open Sundays 9:00 am-1:00 pm, May 8 - Oct 9. The market is located on Third Street in front of the Capital Theater.
