Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin Drag ‘Lying, Hypocritical Bigot’ Trump at Emmys
The comedic leading ladies of iconic 1980 film 9 to 5—Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin—appeared onstage at the 69th annual Emmy Awards tonight (Sunday, September 17) to hand out the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited TV Series or Movie.
Big Little Lies actor Alexander Skarsgard's win, however, was briefly overshadowed by a badass feminist moment from the trio of power women when they took a not-so-subtle dig at Donald Trump—who was infamously caught on tape bragging about "grabbing" women "by the p---y" before winning the presidency.
"Back in 1980 in that movie, we refused to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying hypocritical bigot," Fonda reminisced, referring to the horrible misogynist boss featured in their film, before Tomlin piped in.
"And in 2017 we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying hypocritical bigot," she added, resulting in thunderous applause from the audience.
