Beloved Yakima Carmel Candy Shop Is Closing for Good
The Copper Pot Caramels candy business in Yakima has officially gone out of business as of January 31st.
I saw the news on my Facebook feed when a friend was lamenting about the loss of the local caramel company. My mouth opened up in shock because I was like, there's only one caramel company I know of in Yakima and that's Copper Pot Caramels. So I went over to their Instagram page and sure enough, there was the sad news written in plain sight.
In the public social media notice, the owners state that they have closed their business for good. I have to admit I didn't read the whole message, but I definitely got the sentiment behind it. I recall how friends and community colleagues of mine have given away some of those tasty Copper Pot Caramels as gifts over the years, including some as giveaways for prize packs at different parties and fundraisers I've attended.
The home base for Copper Pot Caramels since 2011 has been located at Johnson Orchards, which is right off of Summitview Avenue. I love the distinct orange and brown box that came with the elegant Copper Pot caramels logo on the front.
My Facebook friends mentioned now is a good time to get down to Johnson Orchards as soon as possible and buy yourself some of the very last remaining inventory of those beloved Copper Pot Caramels!
"We are hoping to not make a huge deal out of the closure of our business, and instead we are hoping to fade into the background maybe even become part of local lore or sending our sweetest farewells and biggest thanks." - Colleda Monick and Adrianne Engelhart, co-owners of Copper Pot Caramels
