I was so fortunate to have purchased my tickets to see Black Violin before the pandemic and was so disappointed that the show had been canceled. It was exciting to receive a fresh new pair of tickets to the rescheduled performance! One of my gal pals sent me a text message last month asking if I wanted to go see the show with our kids. Of course, I said yes!

We all met up before the show to grab some dinner at Jimmy John's sub shop downtown. We sat inside and chatted over turkey and zesty garden club sandwiches, chips, and cookies. When we were done, we headed over to the Capitol Theatre which was a short block away.

After going through the COVID check-in lines, we went to our seats on the main floor. We were sitting in Row T, which is the very last row in the back. These were the most perfect seats because I felt like I was close enough to the stage and far enough to not feel claustrophobic! My friend grabbed us parents some beer and some drinks for the kids. The lady sitting next to me was very chatty. She told me her name was Judith and that she was 90 years old and that she had been sitting in the same seats to shows at the Capitol Theatre for almost 30 years. She was very sweet!

The Black Violin show was amazing! They played some of the most beautiful violin melodies I've ever heard and they combined that flavor with current and older hip hop songs I recognized, including a recent one from pop star Cardi B! My 10-year old daughter noticed that a group of young kids had moved to the end of the aisle and were dancing their little buns off. She went to join them and it made my heart swoon to see her dancing, jumping up and down, and having an absolute blast to the music.
