5 Amusing Things to Do at the Port Townsend Victorian Festival
The Victorian Festival in Port Townsend, Washington, is from April 29th thru May 1st. I have never been to one of these types of events before but I'm pretty geeked out to visit it if the price of gas can keep on coming down before the end of the month!
Port Townsend is about four (4) hours away from the Yakima Valley if you take the toll bridge. If you don't, you're looking at a nearly five (5) hour drive. Just head up west toward Seattle, hang a right toward Tacoma, and then venture up near the islands. Port Townsend is at the aquatic tip in Puget Sound. It is sure to be a most scenic road trip!
Here are the five amusing things you can do at the Port Townsend Victorian Festival!
1. Take some memorable Victorian tours.
There are three different types of tours being offered at the Port Townsend Victorian Festival: a walking tour, tours of some McCurdy House (a 150-year-old home that's been turned into an Airbnb), and a parlour tour of the Starrett House, built in 1889! It has also been turned into an Airbnb.
2. Dance Victorian like nobody is watching!
I have no idea what the names of popular Victorian dances were, but I'm certain that they were all the "TikTok dances" of their time!
3. Sip on some High Tea and spread a bit of gossip.
Hot goss, as the kids are calling it these days! Pass the crumpets and cucumber sandwiches, or whatever they will be serving. It's not on my diet, though, I might have to take a raincheck on the food.
4. See a Victorian fashion show!
Peep some petticoats, bustles, bustiers, and corsets! There will certainly be some Bridgerton types sniffing around backstage.
5. See some presentations.
View decoratives, heirlooms, and knick-knacks that all have authentic Victorian Washington state flair. There might even be FENCING!
