4 Cities, 4 Fireworks Shows: Selah, Yakima, Cle Elum, Pasco
The heat wave happening across the entire Pacific Northwest has caused several cities in Central and Southwest Washington to cancel their 4th of July fireworks shows in order to stave off wildfires.
There are still a few towns where we can enjoy the show of the big, loud firecrackers. Here is a list of some of them below:
Yakima: The Apple Jam concert for the 4th of July is back and bringing and culminating with a fireworks show at the end of the night. Yakima County and the City of Yakima joined at the hip to make sure us Yakimoanians will have a beautiful 20-minute fireworks showcase in the night sky, beginning at 10 p.m. at State Fair Park (1301 N Fair Ave). The Apple Jam concert competition starts at noon if you dare to brave the heat. If you wanna ride the bus to the event, there will be transit from 3 area locations starting at 3:30 p.m.
Gateway Center - Fair Avenue near Target, Eisenhower High School - Tieton Drive and 40th Ave, and Wide Hollow School - 72nd Avenue & Nob Hill Blvd.
Selah: This 4th of July fireworks show will not have assigned parking lots; instead the city of Selah is encouraging folks to pull over and park anywhere in town they like to capture the firecrackers take flight in the sweet Selah night sky. The website lists events happening from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., but it isn't specific on if there will be a fireworks show the entire 1 hour and 30 minutes. Bring your blankets just in case!
Cle Elum: Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce is hosting an "Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks Show" in the town of Cle Elum at Wye Park (315 W. 1st St). The fireworks start promptly at 10 p.m. but there will stuff happening around the park for the kids, grown-ups, and the 21+ set from 1 pm. til 10.
Pasco: Head to the Gesa Stadium to see the 4th of July fireworks take off around 10 p.m. They said to feel free to start showing up anytime after 6:30 p.m. The holiday party plans will start early in Pasco; they've got a breakfast hosted by the Kiwanis Club, a fun run, a car show, and lots more other stuff. Check the website here for all the details.
(The city of Ellensburg is bringing in a celebrity to get our minds off of things, do you like Joe Nichols?)
